1. First, I get a spark of inspiration
for a song--whether it's from nature, life's adventures, or a fond memory.

2. Then, the creative work begins with
different chord structures and sound experimentation.

3. Next, I sketch out the notes and
chords in my composition book, so
I don't forget them. |

4. When I have the song mapped out in my
head and notebook, I enter the music note by note and chord by chord, using
my digital piano and computer.

5.
The music then goes through several rounds of drafts, proofreading and
testing to make sure it's notated correctly.

6.
Finally, the printed sheet music is finished.
7.
I record the tune in the recording studio. |
8.
Lastly, I format the song for my piano book. |
How long does it
take to create each song? Well, sometimes it may take as little as a week to
create and document a song and other times it may be more than a year before
the musical idea is fully developed. |
