These columns are part of an art installation in my office tower. For this project, artist Ayomi Yoshida covered four soaring pillars with more than 600 painted and carved panels and pasted approximately 62,000 wood chips to the stairway’s white walls.

The winning burger, er pumpkin, in the communications department’s pumpkin carving contest.
I was a volunteer tour guide at the University of Minnesota all four years of college…the kind that walk backwards for 90 minutes highlighting campus classrooms, residence halls, opportunities and extracurriculars. We met each Tuesday night to learn the facts and folklore of our beloved campus. And it was my pleasure to (attempt to) inspire high school students and educate their parents about the U in their pursuit of higher education. Today, we had the first Admissions Ambassadors Alumni Reunion. In many ways, all those campus tours prepared me for a career in PR and communications. After all, at the very basics, it’s about knowing your audience and storytelling, whether it’s a good, service or an experience.

Here with my friends Ben and Heidi Meyer, an Ambassador of the Year in 1995. (Sorry Heidi, I just gave away your age, but not really because you started college at 14, right?)
